I usually use the following software under Linux
Coding -- Quanta / Kwrite
WYSWYG -- NVU
Image Editing -- GIMP
Audio Editing -- Audacity
Video Editing -- Kino and Cinelerra (used a long time ago)
Well, they shouldn't because it sucks really bad. That's why MS dropped it and started over.
i use macromedia for everything i do, but this is a pretty worthless poll since most programs make their software for multiple operating systems

Its not the tool, its how you use it.
As long as you can make your OS do what you want it to do then who cares what you use. Personally its annoying to me to hear Windows bashing all the time or any time for that matter when the author has nothing more substantial to say other then "Windows sucks." This may be my feelings because I use it though, lol.
I know the security advantages that Linux has over Windows, but I still use Windows. Why? It has everything I need and when something breaks, I can fix it. Searching countless forums for solutions to problems is not something I have time for. This is why I don't switch to Linux and why I assume most people don't.
I voted for Mac even though I have never used it. I just see it in recording studios all the time so I assume its the best for media. I don't do any media work so what do I know...lol.
Windows XP offers greatest compatibility across all softwares.
My vote goes to Mac OSX. Mainly because FCP. Adobe makes PS and ID for mac so thats good. Its pretty much the industry standard. Also Mac has the best advantage for Web design, IE: IE, FF and safari. The Big 3 in one OS.
