2 days ago when I was on my way to a seminar in the city, I was in the train station waiting for the 922am train, there were around 80 people in Platform 1 where I was and just 1 person in the other platform, and old blind man. I was talking in the phone with my GF and I saw this old blind man with a guard dog in the other platform. Suddenly the old blind man started to get closer to the edge of the platform backwards, then 2 seconds later he fell! Sad I saw the whole event, his ass hits the ground first and the impact made his head to banged the solid metal track.. Crying

Instinct got me to ran straight towards the other end of the platform just across him, while I was running, I saw the poor old blind man trying to get his way up the platform by himself. Then there were 2 others that ran towards his direction, when I was infront of him and was about to jump to the tracks to help him, theres this older guy who jumped ahead of me and help the poor old blind man. So I ran straight to the ticketmaster and told them to call an ambulance because the poor old blind man is in pain and his head got a cut and bleeding. The other concern man that ran with us said that he will accompanied the old blind man till the ambos arrived. I spoke to this man just this morning and he told me that old blind man is OK, he got some broken bones but nothing major he is fine. That made me feel really great and relieved.

My concern is, there were 80 people who witnessed the event, mostly school students. But when it happened, there were only 3 of us who ran to try to help the poor old blind man, the rest were just watching.. I even heard some made fun of it.. Whats wrong with the society now? Does people care less? Its a bit disturbing when you think of it Sad

Zac
I agree, it is almost enough to make you lose faith in humanity.

As I was reading this I was hoping to hear that the jar to his head gave him his vision back..........oh well. I am glad to hear he is alright.
That sucks, glad to hear a train did not come and the man is ok!

Unfortunately 99.9% of people these days dont give a damn about anyone (society is getting more screwed up every day) Sad
oh... after reading the thread title I was thinking that an actual train came in when he fell... glad that didn't happen.
It emphasises the exact problem with our society now - Nobody cares about anyone other than themselves. I'm glad to hear the blind man wasn't too badly hurt; it's fortunate that there are still some helpful people in our society. Good on you for helping, Zac.
Good thing that he's okay now I guess
Wow thats crazy It kinda makes you think what would the world be like if everyone was like thoes 77 people who did nothing...nothing would get done and no one would help anyone out im part of the new generation but my fellow peers are the people I feel are going to make the world a bad place Sad thats Just my oppion But good job zoom for being one of the good people
I honestly believe in Karma and that you get what you give. Because you did a good thing, you will be blessed for it. It IS unfortunate that most don't care, but the ones who do make this world a better place. Thank goodness this man will be alright and will hopefully heal soon and although his eyes may not have seen you, his heart did.
Yeah, great job Zac. For me, I would probably do something, if there wasn't 10+ people already helping, sometimes its in the thought of others, "What can I do? People are already helping..."

But good job, I gave you a +ve rep for that Wink
Zac, i would've done exactly the same thing you did.

there are very few of us left in the world to help our fellow australian.

have the rest of the people forgotten what the Anzacs fought for?

atleast the Anzac spirit still exists in some of us.
That is quite sad, i was sitting in my mum's car and i saw an old man on a bike and then a speeding women was speeding and drove right up the old man and ran him over, the event sickend me and that showed me how some people can be careless and not think about the victim

I hate people who think that nothing bad will every happen while they're in a car >.< When I'm first in line at a traffic light I find myself always waiting a while before going, I've seen sooo many people just go straight through red lights...
Yep! I heard in Melbourne they have Speed Cameras, and Red light cameras at intersections.

One to catch you speeding up trying to get through before a red light, and the other to catch you going through the red light. Nice system that Biggrin
you can go through a yellow light, its just a warning system.

if you can't slow down in time to stop then you are allowed to go through a red light as long as you are already going through it at the time it changes or just entering and have no time to stop.
Anyway back to the topic. I hope that here @ ZoomCities we still cares for our fellowmen specially when you are stronger and more fortunate than them. Just a moral lesson from the story I told you. I think school need to start teaching about "values" not just academic subjects. Because those students that morning, I dont think they have values.

They will know and learn how it feels when they are the one who fell in the platform and no one try to help them.
