I have a new site and I am looking for a writer who is good with Journalistic style/current affairs writing.
I am just wondering what is the market rate for freelancers who performs such writing services?
Any feedback regarding your experiences in hiring some one like that would be appreciated....

You can usually get one anywhere from 3 cents a word to .1 cents a word USD (on the lower end). Though, you'll find most of their journalistic skills lacking. Most have sub-par English and/or writing abilities.

I am looking for some one who is "reasonably" good but need not be a professional. The style should be some what a cross between "casual" and "journalistic".

I get paid by how they judge my work, and experience I have. But note this, even though some freelancers have little experience, their writing may be as awesome as a professional.
The lowest thing I got was about $20 CAD for a 500 word review for a software from a local shop. That was really easy though.
