I just want to check if this new ISP we got is good enough.
We got a $34/month plan with 1mbps download and 512kbps upload speed. Also, our allowed bandwith is 60GB with $2.50 for every 1GB above the allowed amount.
Is that good for a cheap ISP? I'm the only one left using the internet at home (sometimes parents too) cuz my bro and sis are in university now.
Can anyone tell me whats theirs?
Well you live in a different part of the world. I have a 3mbps connection for $24/month and "Unlimited" Bandwidth.
I only have 3 choices.
That, upgrade to a $44, $60, or $99 plan, or change to a pay-per-GB ISP. I guess thats enough for me..
$45/month for a 6MB/800kb line in this city. Paying the same amount for a 640kb/170kb line back home. Both are "unlimited" bandwidth plans.
well i'm paying 13.80$ for 512KBS with unlimited bandwidth it's really nice i hread they are soon upgrading my account to 1 MBS for free i'm just wating they will upgrage my account.
i guess internet connectivity rates are slightly higher in asia as compared to west and america (excluding japan, korea, etc)
In Asia, specifically Philippines, my internet was like unlimited dial-up. 56kbps a month for like $3. So it kinda sucked. And, a DSL line would be much higher. Its funny that I used the word 'higher' O_O
Anyway, here in Toronto was a big change from that to this. $34 for 1mbps and 60gb bandwith is a pretty good deal here. Well, at least HERE in Toronto.

hmm nice to hear to that it's mean here in Pakistan the internet rates (ADSL) are really quite cheap as compared to Australia like you pay 35 USD for 2MBS with unlimited bandwidth and yeah with free installation
and the rate of 1MBS is i'm not sure but it's around 25$ i guess with free installation and modem.
but it's really quite higher if you compare it with china or japan or Korea i was seeing on yahoo japan site the rate of 55MBS broadband was 3500 YEN which is almost 20$ i guess so it's really great to have 55MBS at such a low rate. but anyhow i'm satisfied with my connection. don't know why company make limited bandwidth packages. maybe save the bandwidht resources.
i wish i could lunch my own internet company i would launch 100MBS dedicated line at 20$
but i think practically i looks impossible but i can see in future when it will be possible.
i do remember my old days when i had 56KBS dailup connection with almost 5-6 KBS speed. awwwwwwww..
Thanks to this ASDL and the science
I remember those dial-up days too. LOL.
Thank you superior internet technology!! <3
yeah i do remember those old days when i use dailup.. crappy speed

.. 4-5KBS thanks to ADSL

otherwise on dailup in old days it takes half and hour to download a 4 mb mp3 song

and even it's cause headache to download or upgrade any software
again thanks high speed internet

Its not even half the month, and my ISP (I don't know how) made a pop-up on my laptop saying that I have used 75% of the allowed monthly bandwith. I guess that if ever it runs out, I won't be on for while. Sorry guys.
ohhh

it's really bad i don't know why companies make cap packages .. limited bandwidth...
I don't even know how fast my bandwith got used up! This is a first time. And WOW, 60Gb used up already?! ...
here in india the best plan one can get is probably -
$19 for night unlimited plan @2mbps/512kbps (with cap of 1.25GB in the daytime for the entire month!

)
or
$25 for 256k/256k unlimited
i have the first one and know a bug with which i can dnld thru the day too without the isp billing it
but then i have IPTV from the same isp installed too so it becomes hard for them to keep my b/w below 4mbps
so i end up with a 4mbit unlimited connection @ less than 19$

banda can you tell me your ISP name where i know DSL rates in india are quite hight as compared to pakistan, Well would you like to tell me how did you do that? mean use your cap package as umlimited ?
@slave
my isp is mtnl, and the bug is for private use only
