Hi all,

VS

Well we use both of them sometimes but which is better? and why?
vote and tell us the reason.

Regards,

Yesar
As I said few times before, for me it's definitely Photoshop. Because I've worked with it for many years, because of it's features, plugins, easy interface.
And the interface is what I really don't like in GIMP and it's the main reason it never will be one of my favs. Even if it becomes more powerful than PS, if the GUI will not change dramatically, I'd prefer Photoshop, even older, less powerful version.
Is there even a question about which is better?
GIMP is just too wrong to be compared with Photoshop.

Winner = Photoshop. Smile
why not paint.net? the new version is really good i stop using photoshop and moved to paint.net now...
but to choose between gimps and photoshop, i'm for gimps, since it is free, nothing else Tongue
Paint.NET is way better than GIMP. Paint.NET is like Photoshop without all the useless (well not really) features.
Have used GIMP and paint.net. GIMP has many tools and very detailed with many options. use it when I want to do detailed work.

For a quick job, paint.net v3.35 works for me. They have so many cool add-on effects which can be added so easily. Does the job just fine. Also it updates itself. Way Cool!
I vote Photoshop. I've been using it since I first came into the design world. ;P never touched GIMP before.
I would have to vote for Photoshop. GIMP is rarer too raw for now to be compared with Photoshop
Too early for GIMP to be compared with Photoshop, but looking for its development pace, I look forward for what it could be on the future. As for feature, GIMP is nearly has the same rich feature as PS does. The only downpoint of GIMP is the resource, not many resource on the net, since its "new" and not so many people use it, yet.

But I'm sure it will be better in the future since its free and most linux user depend on this tool for image editing (beside Inkscape ofcourse..)

CMIIW, just my 2 rupiahs

Gimp is only about five years behind. Photoshop 1.0 was released in 1990 and the first version of Gimp was released in '95. The main problem is that they just pack all the features in without regard for how well it's displayed to users (typical open source thought process). They figure that, hey, it's free software. If you can't use it, pay $649 and get something that went through user interface testing before it was released.

I think Photoshop is better. I've been using Photoshop for many years. I love its features and a nice user interface. I just downloaded GIMP to test it out a couple of months ago, but I rarely use it. The only great thing about GIMP is that it is free and pack with features that is much better than most other program. But still, PHOTOSHOP wins (for now).
I've used Photoshop for some years now. And it's quite better then GIMP

I agree with Dave especially. The UI, ease of layout, and description of everything are just a few of the main reasons I love Photoshop.

I've tried GIMP and don't really like the window layouts and such. Photoshop is really simple to use once you get used to it.

That's the reason why some people pay so much for Photoshop Smile

Also, you get a ROI pretty quick. If you're a professional, you can probably get a job for at least $500-$1000. So it pays off pretty quick.
