Hey, new designer here, checking out this whole copyright and trademark thing..

I know I should have them, I went to the Copyright website, but if you have ever been there, you will understand when I say that place is worse than a library! There is so much information to go through and all I need to know is:

How do I protect an entire site? How do I protect all of the content, past, present, and future? Do I have to have a trademark as well? Where is the simplest way to get this protection?

yes, you have to legally register your trademark / websites to your local institution. usually the copyright valid for some years, so you need to re-register someday.
